On the same week that Brooklyn’s acclaimed The Lone Bellow plays the Acoustic Cafe Folk Series, Grand Rapids’ St. Cecilia Music Center has announced another high-profile addition to its lineup: Michigan’s own The War and Treaty will perform on Feb. 24.
The War and Treaty, led by Albion’s Michael and Tanya Trotter, has soared to national prominence over the past year, released a highly praised debut album produced by Buddy Miller, crisscrossed the country and recently opened for Bob Seger at Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena to help kick off the Michigan rocker’s final tour.
Their inspirational performances — including a recent, live-streamed HopCat presents Local Spins Live at River City Studios session in Grand Rapids — have electrified audiences wherever they’ve played. SCMC executive director Cathy Holbrook raved that the band’s “Motown sound with soul and folk roots is sure to ignite a bright fire within our audience’s hearts.”
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 Grand Rapids performance are $30 and $35 and available online here.

LONE BELLOW BRINGING ACOUSTIC TOUR TO GRAND RAPIDS THIS WEEK
St. Cecilia, meanwhile, is getting ready for another big show taking place later this week: Americana and indie-folk’s The Lone Bellow will bring their “Acoustic Triiio Tour” to Royce Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Some $30 tickets are still available online here.
The Lone Bellow — Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin and Brian Elmquist — is touring for the first time without a backing band, promoting a new EP, “The Restless,” which was released last month.
The Acoustic Cafe Folk Series, which partners with the Ann Arbor-based Acoustic Cafe syndicated radio show hosted by Rob Reinhart, continues Feb. 9 with the return of Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn.
Also in the lineup: The Milk Carton Kids play St. Cecilia on Feb. 28, Asleep at the Wheel returns to the series on April 11 and guitarist Leo Kottke makes another appearance in the series on April 18. Get more info and tickets online at scmc-online.org.
