Local Spins headed out to the Old Dog Saturday in Kalamazoo and the Intersection Sunday in Grand Rapids to capture a couple of the weekend’s hottest shows.
Sad Songs Say So Much. That was the theme Saturday night as May Erlewine and Max Lockwood took to the stage with support from Phil Barry on guitar and Julian Allen on drums in front of a packed house at the Old Dog in Kalamazoo.

Meanwhile, in Grand Rapids on Sunday night, Mat Kearney brought his crowd-pleasing nationally acclaimed pop show to the Intersection. South African alt-rockers Atlas Genius opened up for Kearney, putting on a crowd-pleasing show of their own.
Local Spins’ Derek Ketchum and Jamie Geysbeek were there to capture this weekend’s magic. Revisit the two nights of music in these Local Spins photo galleries.
