Alto singer-songwriter Josh Rose is as committed to crafting compelling music as any artist in West Michigan. He talked about that and teaching others that craft for this edition of Local Spins Live.
As Josh Rose puts it, “I think there’s a place for songs that are like poems.”

The veteran West Michigan singer-songwriter and teacher also sees a place for thoughtful, well-written indie-folk music that’s “real and authentic” amid the hubbub of pop, EDM and other uber-popular music forms of the day.
It’s the kind of lesson he’s passed on to fledgling singer-songwriters at music camps this summer, including one staged by the Wheatland Music Organization in Remus.
On Wednesday, Rose not only talked about songwriting but performed a poignant new song, “Deserted,” during Local Spins Live on News Talk 1340 AM (WJRW). Listen to the podcast here and watch a video of his performance below.
