MONDAY
WILCO
When: 7:30 p.m. Monday
Tickets: $53
Where: 20 Monroe Live, Grand Rapids
Many fans likely are saying: “It’s about time Wilco played Grand Rapids.” Yes, the band has played venues such as Kalamazoo’s State Theatre and frontman Jeff Tweedy has played Calvin University, among other stages in West Michigan, but there’s a fair amount of anticipation for the band’s 20 Monroe Live debut.
The eclectic, Chicago-bred alt-rock/indie-rock/alt-country outfit is touring behind its 11th studio album, “Ode to Joy,” which was released in early October and was described by Rolling Stone magazine as their best album in years – “a beautiful exercise in downhearted uplift.” Deep Sea Diver, fronted by California singer-songwriter Jessica Dobson, opens the show. Get tickets online here.

DAVID WAX MUSEUM TICKET GIVEAWAY: Congratulations to reader John Pilgrim Metts. Check The Big List every week for your chance to win concert tickets.
After some “soft opening” events in October, this concert serves as the official opening night for concerts at the new Listening Room in Studio Park, south of Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids. The 200-seat, second-floor Listening Room will kick things off with folk and roots rock act David Wax Museum, which is touring behind a new album, “Line of Light.”
Fronted by David Wax and Suz Slezak, the band blends traditional Mexican Son music with Americana strains. Opening things for this venue-christening show will be indie-rock singer-songwriter Heather Maloney. Get tickets and details online here.
