STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON
When: 7 p.m. Monday
Tickets: $20-$125
Where: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids
It’s interesting that the first classic rock show to follow The Eagles at Van Andel Arena would feature former Eagles guitarist Don Felder as the opening act.
Of course, the real draw for nostalgic rock fans attending this “United We Rock” show are two bands that literally have ceaselessly crisscrossed the country on tour for decades. Styx and its progressive rock/pop dominated the charts back in the day, with the Midwest-bred band continuing to regale its devotees with familiar songs such as “Lady,” “Come Sail Away” and “Too Much Time on My Hands.” (They also have a new studio album, “The Mission,” released last June.) REO Speedwagon’s legacy extends all the way back to the late 1960s and original member Neil Doughty (keyboards) is still on the road with singer Kevin Cronin and the rest of the gang. Get tickets and details online at vanandelarena.com.
BRUCE HORNSBY
When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday
Tickets: $46-$48
Where: Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest Hill Ave. SE, Grand Rapids
Pianist and songwriter Bruce Hornsby has an action-packed, colorful history that extends from his breakout commercial success in the 1980s with Bruce Hornsby & The Range to his solo projects to his work with bands such as The Grateful Dead. Hornsby, 63, and his current band, The Noisemakers, also have become festival circuit favorites, and are hitting many this year, including Funhouse Fest and Telluride Jazz Festival.
He’ll play solo at this Grand Rapids show. Get tickets online here.
LOCAL SPINS WEDNESDAY:
ORGANISSIMO
When: 8 p.m. Wednesday
Admission: Free
Where: SpeakEZ Lounge, Grand Rapids
Organissimo is a Michigan legend — at least when it comes to churning out distinctive, virtuosic and soulful organ-based jazz music. And while keyboard whiz Jim Alfredson, drummer Randy Marsh and guitarist Larry Barris have regularly jammed with other musicians as part of Marsh’s “Randissimo’s Sunday Night Jazz” at SpeakEZ, the band’s debut for Local Spins Wednesday is a billed as “An Evening of Organissimo” – with the trio performing its music all night long for fans. They’ve got plenty of music to lean on, having released two albums over the past year alone, including “B3atles,” the group’s tribute to the Fab Four which won a WYCE Jammie Award for jazz album of the year.
Local Spins Wednesdays are presented by Local Spins, SpeakEZ Lounge, Perrin Brewing Company and WYCE, with Michigan beer specials on tap and free parking in the Monroe Avenue lot across from SpeakEZ.

Tickets: $25-$59.50
Where: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids
Billed as “The Breakers” tour, country’s Little Big Town continues to tour behind its 2017 album, “The Breaker,” which shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart (and to No. 4 on the Billboard 200). The harmony-laden group (Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet) is joined on this tour by singer Kacey Musgraves, who’s generated a buzz – and won numerous awards – since bursting on the scene with her 2013 debut, “Same Trailer Different Park.” She’s about to release her fourth album, “Golden Hour.”
Also on the bill for this Grand Rapids tour stop is Midland, which is promoting its latest album, “On the Rocks.” Get tickets and more info online at vanandelarena.com.
KURT ELLING
When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday
Tickets: $40
Where: St. Cecilia Music Center, Grand Rapids
Even The New York Times has hailed Kurt Elling as “the standout male vocalist of our time.” The Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist has won the DownBeat Critics Poll for 14 consecutive years and was named “Male Singer of the Year” by the Jazz Journalists Association eight times, thanks to his rich baritone and “astonishing technical mastery and emotional depth” expressed on original compositions and modern interpretations of standards. Audience members will have the opportunity to purchase his brand new recording, “The Questions,” which officially gets released Friday, the day after his Grand Rapids concert.
Get tickets and more details online at scmc-online.org, including information about the pre-concert reception for this jazz series show.
JOSHUA DAVIS
When: 8 p.m. Friday
Tickets: $35-$45
Where: Seven Steps Up, Spring Lake

He’ll play an intimate show in this Spring Lake listening room that will include old favorites as well as compelling new songs from his latest album, “The Way Back Home.” Get tickets online at pindropconcerts.com, where you can also get details about Saturday night’s concert starring another legendary Michigan act: Folk’s Ruth & Max Bloomquist.
