The third installment of the Michigan Mondays series hosted by Local Spins features a Kalamazoo phenom: cellist Jordan Hamilton, whose music spans classical, pop, R&B and hip hop in inventive, thought-provoking fashion. The artist’s meteoric rise amid West Michigan’s music scene has been fueled by his riveting live performances and this one will include a mid-show interview to shed more light on his music, his background and his new album, “My Thoughts Are.”

A founding member of Wu-Tang Clan, GZA (Gary E. Grice) will be joined for this mid-week show by West Michigan-bred hip hop artists Bronze Nazareth, Rebel Kuzco and The Fist Coalition.

It’s a night of heavyweights at Van Andel Arena. Some 27 years after forming, California nu metal band Korn is back on the road, touring behind its 13th studio album, “The Nothing,” which was released in September.
Joining the group on this co-headlining tour will be Pennsylvania hard-rock fave Breaking Benjamin, which just released a new album, “Aurora,” that features reimagined versions of some of their hits with special guests from bands such as RED, Underoath and Flyleaf.

New York alt-rock trio Bailen – featuring three Bailen siblings (Daniel, David and Julia) – first drew national attention last spring with the group’s single, “I Was Wrong.” The band later released its debut album, “Thrilled to Be Here,” and is making a Grand Rapids stop on its current Midwest tour. (Bailen also plays The Loving Touch in Ferndale on Saturday.)
