Cascade Township Park, Grand Rapids
The 28th Street Metro Cruise is West Michigan’s premier car event, a two-day celebration of family, friends, food, music and entertainment surrounding the love of the car. The Metro Cruise is made up of 16 miles of cool cars stretching from Cascade to Grandville along 28th Street.
This year’s celebration features things like a donut competition and a food truck crawl alongside the cars, but also some great local performers. Kicking things off will be a pre-event party featuring Grand Rapids vintage R&B band The Soul Syndicate at Cascade Township Park, at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The Main Event site, located at the Rogers Plaza Mall parking lot, is the center of the action and will host five West Michigan bands, including Onager and Flexadecibel on Friday, and Stolen Horses, La Furia Del Ritmo Original and Azz-Izz Band on Saturday. More details at 28thstreetmetrocruise.com.

Celebrating everything Polish, this year’s 40th anniversary edition of the Dozynki Polish Festival hosted by the Polish Heritage Society in downtown Grand Rapids boasts a special superstar appearance: Lenny Gomulka & The Chicago Push, who perform from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, trading off sets with Dynabrass on Friday and Gerry Kaminski’s Polka Network on Saturday. The internationally renowned Gomulka, “considered a living legend in the polka community” formed the Chicago Push in 1980, has been nominated for 12 Grammy awards in the polka genre and was inducted into the International Polka Music Hall of Fame & Museum in his hometown of Chicago in 2016.
