This special edition of Local Spins on WYCE boasts Michigan music with a twist: Airing tracks from albums that a dozen regional artists say have influenced them the most, from Kanye West to The Beatles.
Starting in early 2021, Local Spins launched a unique series spearheaded by writer Ross Boissoneau.

West Michigan's music scene
The idea: Get Michigan-based musicians and songwriters to reveal the three albums that have most impacted their careers and their own music, as well as a current favorite artist who they’re addicted to.
We call it “Three Albums that Changed My World” and it’s provided singular insights into the songs and the bands that have inspired Michigan-bred acts.
So, for this week’s unique twist for Local Spins on WYCE (spotlighting local and regional artists at 11 a.m. every Friday on WYCE 88.1 FM and online at wyce.org), host John Sinkevics aired tracks by a diverse mix of iconic artists:
The Beatles, D’Angelo, The War on Drugs, Ricky Skaggs, Kanye West, Modest Mouse, The Raconteurs, Junior Wells, Ani DiFranco and many more who mesmerized members of bands such as Desmond Jones, Michigander, Full Cord and The Legal Immigrants and solo artists, including Jordan Hamilton, SuperDre, Hannah Rose Graves and May Erlewine.
The show kicked off with new music from The Smokin’ Dobroleles and Tiny Tree.
