Those capacity crowds not only fired up small venues such as SpeakEZ Lounge, One Trick Pony and Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill (for Earth Radio, Fauxgrass and Luke Winslow-King with Hannah Rose & The GravesTones), but for concerts such as Rick Springfield and Almost Selena at 20 Monroe Live, and Foxing, Now, Now and Daddy Issues at The Pyramid Scheme.
There were also album-release shows in Kalamazoo for Kaitlin Rose (with Jordan Hamilton) and Trifocal (with DMNY) taking place two straight nights at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe.
And don’t under-estimate the power of tribute shows: The Almost Selena show drew more than 2,000 super-exuberant fans to 20 Monroe Live on Friday night, a testament to the late Mexican-American singer’s incredible and enduring legacy and popularity.
