It hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart the month after its release, spawning the hit singles “Heart of Gold” and “Old Man,” cementing his legendary rock ‘n’ roll status as an iconic songwriter, guitarist and performer.
At 79, he’s continued to tour and record, releasing several albums with his band Crazy Horse over past several years.

Tonight at SpeakEZ Lounge, West Michigan’s own tribute to Young — Crazy Hearse — returns to the stage to perform some of the singer-guitarist’s most compelling gems, from the aforementioned “Harvest,” as well as 1969’s “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere,” 1970’s “After the Gold Rush,” 1975’s “Zuma” and other classic recordings.
Led by Grand Haven singer and guitarist Jack Leaver, who has an uncanny resemblance to Young himself and has long been impacted by Young’s music, the band performs tonight in a show rescheduled from last Wednesday due to a winter storm. The music begins at 7:30 p.m.; details online here.
To whet fans’ appetite for the show, Local Spins has compiled a set list of memorable Young tracks, spanning his long career — including his occasional stints with Crosby, Stills & Nash.
