The much-praised The War and Treaty — selling out St. Cecilia Music Center on Friday — weren’t the only Michigan-bred bands lighting up stages for homecoming celebrations over the weekend.
Petoskey’s Michigan Rattlers brought the North American tour behind their Jammie Award-winning new studio album, “Waving From a Sea,” to The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids on Friday night for what was described as “a fun show” and a “blast” for devoted fans. Max Lockwood and Morgan Haner pitched in for the all-Michigan show.

That very same evening, Grand Rapids ska sensation Mustard Plug fired up dancers with The Mushmen and Sierra Miffed at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo — just a couple weeks before heading out on their own North American jaunt.
(The night before, Bell’s hosted Southwest Michigan favorites Brandon Fitzpatrick & The Element, Yolonda Lavender and Normal Mode.)
On the country music front, Chase Matthew got the weekend started early with a bang at The Intersection on Thursday, followed on Saturday by Ty Myers in The Intersection’s Elevation and Bayker Blankenship in The Stache.
And Russell Dickerson had fans fired up at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids, along with opener Jake Scott.
And the weekend wrapped up with yet another sold-out show: Grand Rapids’ Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill was packed to the rafters on Sunday for the return of West Michigan vintage country act, The Bootstrap Boys (opening for singer-songwriter John R. Miller), who were kicking off their first Midwest tour without guitarist Nick Alexander, who passed away suddenly in January.
