It’s always fascinating to hear the way some artists interpret classic songs by notable bands and solo stars, giving their own intriguing twist to familiar hits.
Today’s episode of Local Spins on WYCE boasts a couple of fine examples of that with indie-alt-folk’s The Accidentals giving us their take on Sheryl Crow’s “Everyday is a Winding Road” (which appears on their new “Cover Art” album) and country’s The Bootstrap Boys’ striking and impressive rendition of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” (their latest single).
Both bands also have been busy performing across the region this summer, with The Accidentals playing Saturday’s Fair Ground Festival in Hastings and The Bootstrap Boys revving things up at the Tamarack Music Festival in Morley.
Another band with a brand new studio album and featured in today’s podcast, Grand Rapids indie-rock/electro-pop band In the Valley Below, will play the pre-party for Fair Ground tonight.
It’s just part of Local Spins on WYCE’s robust and eclectic outpouring of Michigan music, which today also features tracks by singer-songwriter Fay Burns, indie-rock’s Parallelz, multi-instrumentalist Theo Katzman, producer-songwriter RyneShyne, funk drummer Da’Veonce Washington, post-hardcore’s Death By Lions, rock’s Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps and classical/rock fusion’s St. Sinner Orchestra.
