The Catbird Music Festival will roll out Aug. 19-20 on the same site as the iconic 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair.
This 2023 festival being held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, N.Y., boasts an impressive lineup of modern-day stars: The Lumineers, The War on Drugs, Tyler Childers, Trey Anastasio Band, Band of Horses, Trampled by Turtles, Dispatch, Charley Crockett, Amos Lee, Margo Price and several other acts.

Closer to home for Michigan music fans, today’s summer music festival update boasts its own cavalcade of stars — from those pumping up June’s Alpena Blues Festival in Alpena to August’s Forest Trail Music Festival in Free Soil. And those tie-dye shirts will be in fashion here in Michigan, too.
BUTTERMILK JAMBOREE (June 16-18, Delton) – So far, this popular, family-friendly festival held at Circle Pines Center south of Grand Rapids has revealed that it will feature Djangophonique, Great Lakes Brass, The Bootstrap Boys, Kait Rose & The Thorns, Jive at Five, Kyle Rasche, Erin Zindle & The Ragbirds, Adam Gottlieb, Hooten Hallers, Selwyn Birchwood, Mustard Plug, Spencer LaJoye, Megan Dooley, Samuel Nalangira, The Dangling Participles, FlyLiteGemini, The Schrock Brothers, Ironwood, Grace Theisen, The Mammals, Abigail Stauffer and Elisabeth Pixley-Fink. Also, early-bird tickets are now on sale here, with ticket prices going up on Saturday, April 15.
FOREST TRAIL MUSIC FESTIVAL (Aug. 25-27, Free Soil) – The fourth annual Forest Trail Music Festival taking place at the edge of the Manistee National Forest between Manistee and Ludington has revealed its wide-ranging lineup of Michigan performers: Full Cord, The Bootstrap Boys, Cole Hansen, Chirp, The Founding, CrossBow, Sturtz, Nicholas James Thomasma, Austin Benzing, Hatchwing Rider, Steve Leaf, Kanin Wren, Beaver Xing, Elizabeth Landry, Eric Engblade, Cold Leather Seats, Sean Miller, Monte Pride and Ted Bounty. ALPENA BLUES FESTIVAL (June 17, Alpena) – The 19th annual edition of the Alpena Blues Festival will feature sets by Ray Fuller & The Blues Rockers, Broken Arrow Blues Band, Down River Dan, Smokin’ 45s Rock & Roll Revue and Way Out Wayne & The Neckbenders (featuring Val Ventro). SUMMERFEST (June 15-18, Marysville) – Held along the St. Clair River in Marysville, Summerfest will feature the Strutter KISS Tribute on Friday, the Simply Queen Tribute on Saturday and country’s Family Tradition Band on Sunday. More here.
UNCLE SAM JAM (July 6-9, Woodhaven) – Jackyl and Buckcherry will rev up this eastern Michigan festival on July 7, followed by Everclear and Sponge on July 9. Headliners for the Thursday and Sunday shows will be announced in the near future. Details online here.
RIVER ROCK FESTIVAL (July 8, Hersey) – This hard-rocking, one-day affair will feature sets by The One Divided, Tombstunner, Into the Void, Wisher, Second Hand Drugs, Sorry Not Sorry, Fearless, Second Salem, Ruin, Commitment Issues, Monsters in Spade and Loud Sad Disoriented.
HOXEYVILLE MUSIC FESTIVAL (Aug. 18-20, Wellston) – The 2023 festival lineup was announced previously, but Hoxeyville has now posted the official schedule for the weekend, with Luke Winslow-King and Kait Rose getting things started in “pre-show” fashion on Thursday, headliner Circles Around the Sun on Friday, Marcus King on Saturday and The Wood Brothers on Sunday. LOCAL SPINS FEST (May 20, Grand Rapids) – Tickets, $20, are now on sale for the second annual Local Spins Fest, being staged on May 20 outdoors at the Studio Park piazza in downtown Grand Rapids. The day-long festival will feature sets by In the Valley Below, Kari Lynch Band, Sarena Rae, Lokella and Grace Theisen Band, with a special mystery band revealed in late April.
