Through 22 songs and nearly 90 minutes of music, singer-songwriter Mat Kearney favored a good-sized Monday night crowd at GLC Live at 20 Monroe with his infectious tunes and audience interaction.
“Mat is such a genuine person and that comes through in so many ways,” said Holland-based music artist and Kearney fan Jeremy Hoekstra following the show.
Hoekstra has opened several past West Michigan shows for Kearney, although Monday’s show opener was Louisiana native Jordy Searcy.
Among the night’s highlights from Kearney and his band’s set were renditions of signature tunes such as “Closer to Love” and “Nothing Left to Lose,” along with the newer “Anywhere With You.”
Local references the Oregon native and Nashville-based singer made from the stage included Madcap Coffee, Mertens Prime restaurant and Hope College.
