As regional favorite and ’90s music staple Domestic Problems put it this weekend, it was “a good night for the soul.”
The West Michigan folk-rock band led by Andy Holtgreive packed Grand Rapids’ Elevation inside The Intersection on Friday, with fans afterward raving about the “pure energy,” “awesome show” and “always a good time” unleashed by the exuberant musicians on stage.
Of course, it wasn’t the only “good night” for music across West Michigan this past week:
• New York rapper Masta Killa of Wu-Tang Clan made a stop Wednesday at Park Theatre in Holland, with Wuzee, N8ure, Kingpin and more also performing;

• Connecticut indie-pop-rock jam band Eggy brought the tour behind its latest album, “Waiting Game,” to The Stache inside The Intersection in Grand Rapids for a mid-week romp;
• Grand Rapids’ own The Frog King kicked off “Tribute Month” at SpeakEZ Lounge in Grand Rapids, filling the intimate venue Friday with an enthusiastic crowd that sang along and danced to some of Neil Diamond’s biggest hits and most popular songs;
• Kalamazoo Central High School on Friday hosted a magical partnership between the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Kandace DC Lavender, aka “A Celebration of Hip Hop Culture.” The evening featured many from the Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids scene, including hip-hop cellist Jordan Hamilton, Lady Ace Boogie, Jess Ivey, Skitzo, Ed Genesis and more.
• The Skinny Limbs, Low Phase and Perrin ignited fans at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
