West Michigan's music scene
At mid-week, the fun featured jam-band faves Twiddle and Grand Rapids rock band The Zannies pumping up venues in Grand Rapids while Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish revved up Kalamazoo’s State Theatre. That was followed by everything from outlaw country to fuzz pop to folk on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Indeed, at The Avenue Cafe in Lansing, northern Michigan jam band Biomassive won the final round of the Cowpie Music Festival’s Pathway to the Pasture band contest, outdueling GreggFish and Stormy Chromer on Friday night.
And on Saturday night, there was an all-star cast of West Michigan musicians once again performing “Jesus Christ Superstar,” this time at the East Grand Rapids Performing Arts Center.
