West of Grand Rapids in Hudsonville, Saturday’s musical celebration was one hosted by White Flame Brewing Co., with hundreds of folks checking out a day of performances at Flame Fest that included Nashville alt-rock/metal band RED along with local faves The Holy Warheads, Slumlord Radio, Jesse Ray & The Carolina Catfish, EPCYA and Nathan Walton.
In Kalamazoo, Saturday’s celebration was all about toasting Louie’s Trophy House Bar & Grill on its 100th anniversary, with longtime Michigan fave and ’90s heroes Domestic Problems kicking out the jams along with teenage blues-rock sensation Jake Kershaw.
And of course, there was Day 2 and Day 3 of the Kalamazoo Blues Festival at Arcadia Creek Festival Place in downtown Kalamazoo.
Earlier in the week, it was upbeat and celebratory performances by The Soul Syndicate and Kathy Lamar & Robin Connell at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park’s Tuesday Evening Music Club and a tour stop by Our Lady Peace at 20 Monroe Live.
