When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
Tickets: SOLD OUT

Michigan rock hero Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band return to Grand Rapids with their “2017 Runaway Train Tour,” amid some speculation once again that this could be their final tour. The 72-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has a wildly devoted fan base, especially around here, so it’s no surprise that this show sold out quickly.
Upping the ante: Heart’s Nancy Wilson opens the concert with her new band, Roadcase Royale, which features the dynamic vocals of Liv Warfield, a former member of Prince’s New Power Generation. Read the Local Spins interview with Wilson online here. Despite the sellout, resale tickets are available through various ticket brokers and Ticketmaster. By the way, 20 Monroe Live, kitty-corner from the arena, will host a free Bob Seger Pre-Party starting at 5 p.m.

Weyes Blood is Natalie Mering. Pitchfork named her psychedelic pop “best new music.” Her latest recording is 2016’s “Front Row Seat To Earth,” noted by NPR for echoing dark ruminations of the millennial generation like environmental destruction and economic instability “with tracks that reexamine intimacy and idealism in ways that showcase Mering’s gift for measuring and mediating heady emotions.”
Pitchfork adds that Weyes Blood “blends ’70s AM radio, the psychier end of late ’60s folk, and touches of Celtic and Renaissance music.” Mering has something to say. Tickets are available online here.
LUKE WINSLOW KING
CHUCK WHITING
When: 9 p.m. Friday
Tickets: $12 advance, $15 day of show
Where: Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill, Grand Rapids
Bred in Michigan and honing his sound in New Orleans, Luke Winslow King is a brilliant songwriter and musician whose eclectic and powerful music is displayed in dynamic fashion on his latest album, “I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Last Always,” released on Bloodshot Records. King recently moved back to his native Cadillac, and sadly, he’s mourning the recent passing of his father. But he’s also been impressing audiences at big festivals as of late, ranging from Wheatland to Harvest Gathering.
Fans getting a chance to see him in the intimate space of the Tip Top will surely be impressed. Not only that, but West Michigan’s Chuck Whiting opens the show. Get more information/tickets online here.

He brings the tour behind Steve Earle & The Dukes’ most recent album, “So You Wannabe an Outlaw,” to Kalamazoo’s State Theatre with Brooklyn alt-country duo The Mastersons opening the show. Get tickets and more details online at kazoostate.com.
