The flurry of mid-week shows just helped kick off the weekend early in West Michigan.
With Wednesday tour stops by rock band Blues Traveler at 20 Monroe Live (celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Grammy-winning album, “four”), funk’s Lettuce at Elevation inside The Intersection and instrumental whizzes Kittel & Co. at Listening Room (plus a double-header of inventive local bands — Free Hat and The Soods — at SpeakEZ Lounge), hump day took on a truly celebratory air.
That was followed on Thursday by country star Granger Smith at The Intersection and the lively Hot Sardines at Listening Room;
• On Friday by The Legal Immigrants at The Pyramid Scheme (the sendoff for the Grand Rapids band’s Australian tour);
• On Saturday by hip hop/country rapper YelaWolf at 20 Monroe Live, the rootsy Donna the Buffalo at Elevation and electronic fave Subtronics (a “banging” sold-out show) at The Intersection, and Grand Rapids singer-songwriter Cameron Blake (with a cast of musical friends) at Listening Room.
It all made for a lo-o-ong and memorable weekend of music. Browse the images — exclusively at Local Spins.
