West Michigan's music scene
For 20 Monroe Live’s second birthday on Saturday, fans packed the downtown Grand Rapids venue for the return of Michigan alt-rock faves The Verve Pipe, who didn’t disappoint.
The high-energy musical celebration that included an opening set by Grand Rapids’ Americana/rock band Brother Elsey left the enthused audience amped up and reveling in the Michigan-bred lineup.
That was just part of a sizzling music weekend that accompanied the “great thaw” after several brutal days of ridiculously frigid temperatures, snow, ice and treacherous driving.
There were album-release shows (Max Lockwood, How to Live Together, Bermudas), tributes to Gibson guitars, some classic Styx tunes and more.
Local Spins photographers were on had to capture some of that action, so let’s let the images do the talking.
