In Grand Rapids, this summer’s musical fun ranges from street block parties outside Garage Bar & Grill to ballpark concerts at Sullivan Field on the city’s West Side.
Elsewhere across the state, there’s music in the vineyards in South Haven and Shelby, barn concerts on a farm outside Boyne City, park shows in Thompsonville and beach-front entertainment in West Olive.
Recent additions to Local Spins’ “Summer Concerts @ Michigan Venues” listings boast a plethora of regional and national stars performing throughout the summer in varied settings.

Indeed, the Garage Bar’s Block Parties kick off June 14 with the rock strains of Hazy Past on June 14, followed by the groovy, psychedelic approach of Cosmic Knot with special guest Hannah Rose Graves on June 21. The weekly street concerts on Ottawa Avenue in the city’s Monroe North District continue through Aug. 23, when the John Lipp Band closes things out.
Meanwhile, several miles away on the city’s West Side, Sullivan Field heats up the summer once again with a variety of events, including the summer kickoff concert on Saturday (June 1) headlined by The Frog King Neil Diamond tribute. Other shows include a country hoedown, a blues night, cover band Brena hosting a “Beach Bash” and even the Grand Rapids Symphony.
And short drives to the lakeshore or to picturesque spots in northern Michigan offer even more robust offerings of live music, all listed in the Summer Concerts @ Michigan Venues Guide — more than four dozen concert series in all for 2024.
