The Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans both celebrated landslide victories on Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA basketball tournament to fire up fans across the state — appropriate, because today, Local Spins celebrates another batch of new tracks by Michigan artists to fire up music devotees.

Patty PerShayla — Another Grand Rapidian who has relocated to Nashille, PerShayla released her album, “Sad Girl Apocalypse: Bummer Songs and Ukulele Adventures,” in 2024. The rock-propelled powerhouse singer and musician returns to West Michigan for shows March 28 in Lowell for Lowell Arts’ Sound Check series and April 1 at SpeakEZ Lounge in Grand Rapids for the Local Spins Wednesdays series. Elisabeth Pixley-Fink and Samantha Cooper — This dynamic songwriting duo with exceptional vocals last fall released a single written at the Songwriters Summit for Resilience.
