Flanking the mammoth Jammie Awards show on Friday which boasted dozens of West Michigan bands were other compelling shows, folk to rockabilly to country to bluegrass — captured in photos at Local Spins.

Suffice to say, pretty much anything would pale in comparison to Friday night’s Jammie Awards show hosted by WYCE-FM at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, with more than 25 bands playing two stages for 1,500-plus fans in a long and satisfying tribute to West Michigan’s ultra-talented music scene.

But before and after this memorable event — amid snowflakes and the season’s chilliest temperatures — there were plenty of intriguing performances, starting with Wednesday night’s debut appearance in the Local Spins Wednesdays at SpeakEZ Lounge series by indie-rock’s Bello Spark, who also stopped by the WJRW studios earlier in the day to play couple of songs on the radio during Local Spins Live.
That just kicked off a captivating string of shows:

• Railroad Earth, with opener Crow Moses, brought its “Last of the Outlaws” tour to The Intersection in Grand Rapids, giving 500-plus fans a taste of the jam band’s Americana- and bluegrass-hued folk.
• Jesse Ray & The Carolina Catfish, with Fathom 19 and JOE opening, delivered its hyper-lively rockabilly act to the stage (and floor) of The Pyramid Scheme.
• Young and emerging Kalamazoo-area country singer Megan Rae and her band made the wintry trip to Grand Rapids’ Back Forty Saloon for shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
• Nashville-based Michigan natives Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys came home this weekend, hosting a CD-release party for the bluegrass band’s brand new album, “Ionia,” playing two sets for a big crowd, and keeping the hootenany going deep in the evening. Miss Tess & The Talkbacks opened the show.
• Ann Arbor singer-songwriter Chris Bathgate, who opens for Luke Winslow King at The Pyramid Scheme on Monday night, made a stop at Rockford Brewing on Sunday with Molly Sullivan for a special early evening show.
