West Michigan's music scene
When the very first episode of Local Spins on WYCE aired in late August 2014, the show initiated a tradition of introducing audiences to up-and-coming West Michigan artists and debuting new music by regional acts – from the seasoned to the fledgling.
Thousands of songs and hundreds of artists later, Local Spins on WYCE is still showcasing those Michigan stars and WYCE is still celebrating the vibrant local and regional music scene via the Jammie Awards.
Stifled since 2020 due to the pandemic, this “biggest night for West Michigan’s music scene” returns to The Intersection on Saturday evening with dozens of performances by a diverse set of artists on three stages.

So it’s only apropos that this week’s edition of Local Spins on WYCE is all about the Jammies, with performances starting at 5:30 p.m. when singer-songwriter Ralston Bowles plays his “Jammies Song.” (WYCE also hosts a special pre-show at 2 p.m. outdoors on the Studio Park piazza with Jack Droppers & The Best Intentions and KJ and the Good-Time Family Band.)
As a special preview to Saturday’s musical extravaganza, the June 24 episode of Local Spins on WYCE features tracks by Jammies performers The Skinny Limbs, Aramis616, Patrick Wieland (of Lazy Genius), Austin Benzing, Rin Tarsy, The Ryne Experience, Odd Space, Michigan Rattlers, Wuzee & Samil, Major Murphy, Jake Allen, Phabies, The Bootstrap Boys and The Accidentals.
The show also shares some Jammies memories courtesy of former WYCE Station Manager Michael Packer, who was one of those instrumental in getting this annual event started way back in 1999. Without further adieu, listen to the show here and scroll down for the full schedule of Saturday performances.
