After spending three straight months on the road this year and recording more than 20 songs in its Rockford studio, the band still insists that it’s more “exhausting to stop” than to keep at it.
“We’ve been on tour for three months and we miss playing for all our hometown fans and we love playing The Intersection, and we love packing the place and getting real rowdy,” lead singer Sean Zee said of the band’s much-anticipated homecoming show at 6:30 p.m Saturday at The Intersection in Grand Rapids with Red Legs, Half|Love, and The Great Indoors also on the bill. Details and tickets ($12 advance) online here.
“We’ll be playing four or five new songs and we’ll be recording this concert for a live album.”
In preparation for that show and live recording, The Outer Vibe — Zee, Nick Hosford, Lisa Kacos, Andrew Dornoff and Noah Snyder — stopped by the Local Spins Live radio show this week on News Talk 1340 AM (WJRW) to perform an acoustic rendition of “Shining Like a Diamond.” Listen to the full podcast here and watch a video below.

The group recently spent 91 straight days in a row on the road, traveling from coast to coast, with a lengthy stop during the South By Southwest music conference and festival in Austin, Texas.

But nothing seems to wear them out: After three radio and television promotional appearances on Wednesday, they even performed a short acoustic set at SpeakEZ Lounge on Wednesday night during the intermission of the Local Spins Wednesdays show featuring Drew Nelson & Highway 2.
And the band plans to head back on the road later this spring for a tour of the East Coast, followed by a summer tour out West.
“We made a lot of progress while on tour. And it’s so much fun and it feels so good to be doing what you know you’re meant to be doing that that we just want to do it all the time,” said Kacos, who plays trumpet and keyboards. “We’re ready to hit the road again.”
