Summertime means road time for lots of West Michigan bands.
Indeed, two of them — Bigfoot Buffalo and Desmond Jones — are playing their first show on the same bill at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids on Friday night before heading in opposite directions for performances Saturday: The roots rocking Bigfoot Buffalo will play a brewery with Nordlund in Oshkosh, Wis., while funky/rock/jazz jammers Desmond Jones cruises north to Lake Ann for northern Michigan’s Dunesville music festival.
Not only that, but both bands are juggling a hectic 2017 of performances with work on new studio albums that will be released later this year.
Members of both bands — guitarist Kyle Brown and bassist Mike Serota of Bigfoot Buffalo, and drummer John Nowak and guitarists Chris Bota and Isaac Berkowitz of Desmond Jones — took time out their busy schedule to swing by this week’s edition of Local Spins on WYCE to perform new songs and chat about their music.
They’ll play The Pyramid Scheme at 8 p.m. tonight, along with Saginaw’s The Barbarossa Brothers. Tickets are $10 at the door. Get information and details online here.
