The week was packed with national tour stops and local showcases: The Sauce, Chris Andrus, Jim Lauderdale, Ramblin’ Rose’s Grateful Dead tribute, Devil Elvis, Dede Alder and more in Local Spins images.

But December got the snow machine rolling anyway, wreaking havoc on roads and many folks’ plans. It couldn’t stop a blizzard of concerts featuring national as well as regional acts, however, so let’s recap some of them at Local Spins:
• Grand Rapids’ The Sauce made its Local Spins Wednesdays debut at SpeakEZ Lounge on Wednesday, with singer-songwriter Chris Andrus — and backing singers Dana Mate Dones and Shaneé Laurent — also performing.
• On the other side of downtown Grand Rapids, St. Cecilia Music Center hosted the opening show of its 2016-2017 jazz series with Grammy-winning singer Cecile McLorin Salvant impressing the audience.
• Another Grammy winnner, Americana singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale, meanwhile, played a Pin Drop Concerts show at Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake on the same night.
• She Wants Revenge brought its 10th anniversary tour to The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids on Thursday, the same night that Dede & The Dreamers made a return visit to Rockford Brewing in downtown Rockford, with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe delivering what Local Spins photographer Derek Ketchum called an “incredible, high-energy show” at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe — which also celebrated “Bell’s Eccentric Day” this weekend with Devil Elvis, Saxsquatch & Bridge Band and Funk Parade performing and fans arriving to the masquerade dressed in, well, eccentric garb.
• On Friday back in Grand Rapids, Ramblin’ Rose & The Friends of the Devil (aka, Hannah Rose Graves and some superstar guests) uncorked a tribute to The Grateful Dead for a jam-packed capacity crowd, the same night that Grand Rapids rock band Red Legs unleashed a CD-release show at The Pyramid Scheme.
