Two weeks ago, Grand Rapids experimental/atmospheric rock band Ghost Heart assembled its odd gear — ranging from the usual guitars and an electronic keyboard to various percussion devices, including a spinning bicycle rim — and gathered for a special, intimate first-time event at River City Studios.
The first Local Spins Live at River City Studios event had host John Sinkevics from Local Spins interviewing band members about their new project in front of a small audience, with Ghost Heart performing four songs from the album, “The Effigy,” amid Studio A’s acoustically pleasing setting — a truly unique presentation of this West Michigan band’s innovative music.
(The band’s CD-release show is 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids with Vox Vidorra and Backyard Songbook also on the bill, $5.)
Check out the video below, with a story about the band at Local Spins here. The band also recently released its official video for the track, “Sick Black Lung,” which was filmed in Pittsburgh and directed by Reimink’s brother, Keith. View that video below.
Sound engineering by River City’s Roy Wallace and Austin Ruhstorfer; videography by Brennan Heldt, Dino Kahrimanovic, Steve Lesko, Melissa Nickels and Tyler Wiewiora, with editing by Brennan Heldt.
