Once again, West Michigan’s live music week covered a lot of bases: country, folk, bluegrass, psych-rock, metal, drone and more — from Boris to Neko Case and more. The photo recaps at Local Spins.

West Michigan's music scene
Let’s summarize the unusual week of live music spectacles that greeted West Michigan audiences.
First up, Tokyo’s Boris brought its drone/sludge metal attack to The Intersection’s Elevation unleashing lengthy selections with titles such as “Huge,” “Scar Box,” “Vomitself” and “Loveless.”
Then there was the metal/industrial/gothic salvo from the costumed (Halloween-appropriate) Mushroomhead, which relished the pageantry of its “Madness Within” at The Intersection.
On the flip side, Michigan-bred bluegrass/Americana favorite Lindsay Lou returned to her home state for a Thursday appearance at The Pyramid Scheme — the same night that two other female singer-songwriter stars regaled Grand Rapids audiences: friend and bandmate May Erlewine at Wealthy Theatre and indie-rock/Americana/pop artist Neko Case at GLC Live at 20 Monroe.
Meanwhile, Grand Rapids psych-rock band Ficus celebrated release of its new studio album on Friday at The Pyramid Scheme, the same night that country blues/Americana singer Pokey LaFarge made a tour stop at The Intersection’s Stache and country/rap’s LACS fired up Elevation.
On Saturday, country star Gavin Adcock delivered a rousing performance at The Intersection, putting an exclamation point on the weekend.
