For the 13th time, West Michigan’s Buttermilk Jamboree will roll out this weekend at Circle Pines Center south of Grand Rapids with a homey vibe that embraces regional music — not to mention art, dancing, education, food and family-fired camaraderie.
The festival’s performer lineup includes Laura Rain & The Caesars, Mucca Pazza, Jordan Hamilton, Adrian & Meredith, Kait Rose, The Go Rounds, Full Cord, Y-Not and The Red Sea Pedestrians. among many others.
“I think that there’s a couple things that keep people coming back. One of them is the atmosphere and just what we have done to create and cultivate and grow something that is truly inclusive and eclectic. And just positive for everyone. I hear over and over and over again from attendees, from performers, from workshop leaders, from my coordinators, that they all feel really good,” says Danielle Hoskins, Buttermilk Festival Director.
“Also the organization of it. I work on this all year long, but I have a group of 20 coordinators that are focused in their different areas. And not only are we all working on this festival together, but we’re all friends. Our organization and our teamwork as leaders really shines through in how things run and operate. When you go to a festival and things feel smooth, it makes you want to go return because it feels great.”

Weekend tickets for Buttermilk Jamboree are $170 for adults and $50 for children 15 and under, while day passes range from $50-$90 for adults depending on the day. Day passes for children are $20 on any day of the festival. Get tickets online here.
The festival features dozens of workshops and activities, ranging from subjects like arabic drumming, waltzing, kombucha, yoga and sound baths. As a family friendly festival, there are many activities geared towards children, including a kids tree identification walk and kids yoga.
Other festival traditions include open drum circles, swimming and acoustic campfire jams. All of which is hosted with the intention of inclusion and accessibility.
“I would say that we are definitely one of the most family friendly festivals, as far as our programming and accessibility goes. We have our separate family camp that has a fire pit that’s going, and there’s programming that happens at the fire pit specifically for kids and families.
And then we have our tents with activities and workshops and bands. We have a good party scene, too. But we keep our party scene far away from the family camp scene. So everybody is really happy with that,” says Hoskins.
“Also our accessibility for people with mobility limitations, I think really sets us apart because we have housing and we also have ADA compliant ramps and bathrooms. So when we say everyone can come here, we truly mean that everyone can come here.”
Regular performer Megan Dooley of Kalamazoo notes that the festival is “nestled deep in the gorgeous orchards of Circle Pines Center in Delton. The organizers of the festival always make sure to support our myriad of Michigan musicians by booking most acts from in-state while still inviting new and interesting performers from out of state every year.”
Circle Pines Center at 8650 Mullen Road in Delton is 38 miles south of Grand Rapids, 24 miles north of Kalamazoo, 55 miles west of Lansing, 145 miles west of Detroit and 178 miles south of Traverse City.
