It was a weekend of musical contrasts in West Michigan: theatrical rock, jam-heavy funk, EDM, metal, hip hop, punk, country and more, all showcased in dynamic Local Spins photos.

As the inimitable Alice Cooper proclaimed: “Welcome to the show!”
And what a show it was — not only at Kalamazoo Wings Event Center where the theatrical, shock-rock icon dazzled fans with a light-festooned cavalcade of his greatest hits on Friday, but at several other West Michigan venues that lit up audiences with a dizzying array of genres, from funk to metal to hip hop and more.
Local Spins photographers were on hand for it all, starting with Alice’s “fright night” display as he continues his “Freaks on Parade” tour:
• In This Moment, We Came as Romans and KX2 “adrenalized” concertgoers with an alt-metal and metalcore assault at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids on Saturday nigbt;
• A funky triple-header of jam-band favorites — Dopapod, Tauk and The Motet — turned Warner Vineyards in Paw Paw into a mini-music festival on Saturday, creating what photographer Derek Ketchum called “quite the jam-tastic evening with people of all ages dancing throughout the show” amid picturesque environs that had folks dancing or sitting alongside the vineyard’s creek;
• Country star Jordan Davis pumped up Van Andel Arena with help from Mitchell Tenpenny and Ashley Cooke;
• Bass Country’s summertime assemblage of electronic music artists pumped up The Intersection on Saturday — after pop-punk rock’s Bowling For Soup made a tour stop at the Grand Rapids venue on Thursday;
• Kalamazoo hip-hop cellist Jordan Hamilton celebrated release of his latest album, “Project Freedom,” at Midtown in Grand Rapids on Friday, with help from special guests;
