Call it a Hoxey double-header.
Festival favorite and Kalamazoo-based Greensky Bluegrass rolled out two straight mesmerizing sets for a record crowd Saturday night at the 2016 edition of Hoxeyville, wrapping up a rain-splashed day in northern Michigan’s Manistee National Forest.
“It’s like a full Greensky show on one night,” banjoist Mike Bont had said earlier of this year’s switch from the progressive band’s usual two-night stand. “I think a lot of people dig that.”
A lot of people did.
Thousands of Hoxey-ites also dug the entire weekend of performances on two stages, sets that included superstar Michigan collaborations and a who’s who lineup of regional acts.
That included Sunday’s final day of on-stage romps by the likes of Seth Bernard & The Electrons, Billy Strings, Ralston Bowles, Roosevelt Diggs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades and much more.
The weekend’s musical action was captured in images by photographers Anna Sink and Joe Hirschmugl, displayed in photo galleries below.
And because Hoxey is such a special place with such a special bunch of festivalgoers and performers, check out the separate “The Faces of Hoxey” gallery by Anna Sink.
