Interlochen in northern Michigan will host more than two dozen stars – from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Buddy Guy – with tickets on sale April 18. And Hoxeyville returns in mid-August to the Manistee National Forest.
With Bonnie Raitt, Bela Fleck, Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, Willie Nelson and Steely Dan in its 2014 lineup of concerts, the Interlochen Center for the Arts aims to “create a distinctive magic found nowhere else” for visitors to Northwest Lower Michigan this summer.

West Michigan's music scene
On the heels of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park’s announcement of its 30-concert summer series, Interlochen today unveiled its roster of more than two dozen acts booked for its 2014 Interlochen Arts Festival, with most shows taking place in the unique Kresge Auditorium amphitheater or intimate Corson Auditorium on the campus in Interlochen.
The series is part of Interlochen’s “golden anniversary summer,” and boasts a mix of pop, country, rock, jazz and classical music stars, not to mention special 50th anniversary concerts, says Christopher Gruits, executive director of Interlochen Presents.
Many of this year’s acts are playing Interlochen for the first time, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tigran Hamasyan, Brooklyn Rider, Jason Isbell, Darius Rucker, Five for Fighting, Gary Allan and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Other big names, such as Raitt, Fleck, Steely Dan, Nickel Creek and Gordon Lightfoot are returning performers.
(A handful of the acts booked for Interlochen also are playing Meijer Gardens this summer, including Jackson Browne, Ray LaMontagne, Five for Fighting, Jason Isbell, Crow and Nickel Creek.)
“Put simply, there’s no place like Interlochen,” Gruits insists. “Many of our guest artists are also alumni who have trained at Interlochen and are now returning to impart important wisdom to the great artists of tomorrow. And of course, there’s nothing like watching a fantastic show in the open-air Kresge Auditorium while the sun sets over the lake. It’s truly a magical experience.”
