It’s been a grueling year for music-related businesses and ventures, including Local Spins. During Thanksgiving week, we’re especially grateful to our readers.

West Michigan's music scene
Even amid a relentless pandemic, Thanksgiving offers a time to show gratitude for the people and things that sustain us, inspire us and enrich our lives.
Like you, we at Local Spins are thankful for the perseverance and creativity of Michigan musicians and bands who’ve continued to craft and release new music while finding innovative ways to stay connected with fans. We are thankful for advertisers who have stuck with us through a crazy year.
Most of all, we are thankful for you, our readers, who love music like we do and read our stories via our website, on mobile devices and follow us on social media. Six months ago, we even launched our weekly newsletter, Amplified, to provide email subscribers with even more music news and exclusive content.
Since launching Local Spins nearly nine years ago, our mission has never wavered in that regard: to showcase West Michigan’s robust music scene, connecting performers and music fans. Much like painters and sculptors, actors and poets, and many other creative souls in arts and entertainment, musicians make our community a great place to live.
Local Spins readers have enjoyed the talents of our devoted writers and photographers who share our musical passion, as well as steadfast advertisers and sponsors who’ve supported Local Spins while bringing their messages to you. But more than ever before, we’re only able to do it with assistance from our readers.
Not only has the shutdown of live music due to COVID-19 devastated concert venues, but because many of these businesses no longer provide advertising revenue to the website, it’s crippled our ability to provide the coverage, the stories, the images, the music that our readers love so much.
To keep Local Spins spinning into 2021 and beyond, we need your help.
We’ve long hesitated to make this appeal. But we want to keep providing you with Artist Spotlights, reviews, podcasts, features, listings, videos, playlists, music news, photo galleries, Local Spins on WYCE (11 a.m. Fridays), the Amplified newsletter, festival listings and special reports on the pandemic’s impact on venues and arts groups.
Many websites and news publications have instituted paywalls that require readers to purchase subscriptions upfront before even accessing stories and photos. We won’t do that.
If you believe in Local Spins’ unique content and spotlight on Michigan music, please consider becoming a voluntary subscriber to Local Spins at a level that’s right for you – recognizing that times are tight for many in 2020.

To those that already have donated to Local Spins this year, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope you’ll continue to show your gratitude for the work that we do.
It’s Thanksgiving, and we’re so thankful to all of you. Stay safe and please be good to each other.
