A line from Virginia heavy metal powerhouse Lamb of God’s latest single, “State of Unrest” could describe what fans might expect at this weekend’s Upheaval Festival at Grand Rapids’ Belknap Park: “We are chaos detonated.”
Lamb of God joins headlining heavyweights Bring Me the Horizon, Falling in Reverse, Halestorm, Asking Alexandria and more than two dozen other metal-propelled bands detonating the two-day affair, including several Michigan groups selected based on ticket sales by their fans.
Indeed, a third “Loud & Local Stage” has been added for this year’s Upheaval.
“We hit the Loud & Local Stage at 4 p.m. sharp on Friday and plan to perform our latest EP ‘Screaming Out’ in its entirety,” said Luke Ponce, singer for Grand Rapids’ Coldville. “We are very proud of this album and can’t wait to play it live for everyone at Upheaval Festival.”
Of course, there’s much more on tap at the festival that kicks off at 1 p.m. Friday. After-shows will take place at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, with GWAR and Heartsick playing at 10 p.m. Friday, and Wage War and Thousand Below at 10 p.m. Saturday.
