West Michigan's music scene
Tebowmania has hit the music world.
Tim Tebow, the Denver Broncos’ quarterback who was mauled and couldn’t hit the side of a mile-high barn when he played the Detroit Lions earlier this season, has since become a true Internet phenom with his last-minute heroics and game-winning drives, inspiring “Tebowing” poses as well as a fair amount of comedic backlash.
Now, not only has “St. Elmo’s Fire” author John Parr rewritten his schmaltzy 1985 hit to pay tribute to the quarterback as “Tim Tebow’s Fire” but late-night TV host/comedian Jimmy Fallon dressed up as “Tebowie” in a hilarious spoof rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”
Watch both videos below and decide which one shows the most creativity.
On the cusp of the Broncos’ heading east to take on the New England Patriots tonight in prime time in the playoffs, I’m guessing Tom Brady and the Pats may be singing songs more along these lines:
Elton John’s “Don’t Let Tebow Go Down the Field on Me,” Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell (Because You Sure Can’t Pass),” The Beastie Boys’ “Don’t Play Tebow Games That I Can’t Win,” and U2’s “I’ll Go Crazy if Tebow Goes Crazy Tonight.”
Put it this way: The Pats defense sure doesn’t want to be singing Katy Perry’s “The One that Got Away.”
