For veteran Canadian rockers Three Days Grace, Tuesday night’s packed house at Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena was a case of it’s “Never Too Late” to inspire longtime fans while making it all feel like “Home.”

Singer Adam Gontier, who returned to the hard rock/alt-metal band in 2024 after an 11-year hiatus, told the crowd he loves spending time in Grand Rapids while also mentioning he attended the Nine Inch Nails tour stop Sunday at the arena.
“I think I should just move here,” he exclaimed.
That Grand Rapids crowd was engaged, energetic and nostalgic, singing along to all the hits, including “Animal I Have Become,” “Pain” and “Home.” The audience included hardcore fans from the early 1990s, those that came in after Matt Walst took over vocals, and new fans discovering the band with its latest album, “Alienation.” (The newest record features both Adam Gontier and Matt Walst on vocals.)
Fans of each era were satisfied, as the band jumped between songs from its entire catalogue, sparking three separate mosh pits at different spots on the arena floor. For many of the songs, you could hear the crowd singing along over the band themselves.

For this reviewer, those were the moments of connection and community that I love to experience in live music. I saw Three Days Grace for the first time 13 years ago at Battle Creek’s Kellogg Arena, right after Gontier had left the band. To see them still performing to packed arena crowds after all this time, and for Gontier to have rejoined, was truly magical.
The Funeral Portrait opened the night with a dramatic cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World,” before transitioning into “Generation Psycho,” a high-energy original.
Back in their home state, Southfield-bred post hardcore band I Prevail literally brought the heat as direct support for Three Days Grace.
“We’re home baby!” vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe shouted, expressing his joy for playing in Michigan again — a performance that opened with “NWO” (2025) and “Bow Down” (2019) and closed with “Gasoline (2019),” featuring a take on Metallica’s “Sad But True” in between.
