The weekend brought country, rock, blues, hip hop, alt-rock, electronic music and more to West Michigan, captured as usual in Local Spins photo galleries and videos.
There were times during Friday’s packed-house concert starring Michigan’s own Luke Winslow-King and May Erlewine at Grand Rapids’ Wealthy Theatre when the songs and the musicianship simply transcended the moment, lifting fans beyond a mere performance, into something celebratory, immersive and downright stirring.

West Michigan's music scene
Each artist managed that separately — Winslow-King’s rootsy, bluesy rock ‘n’ roll and Erlewine’s stunning indie-folk/Americana, both supported by a who’s who crew of musicians — as well as together, turning the Red House Concert Series appearance into a red-letter day for West Michigan music.

But that wasn’t the only example of that during a weekend that electrified audiences from Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo, with Thomas Rhett regaling country fans at Van Andel Arena, Paper Diamond at Elevation inside The Intersection (which also hosted the funk of Lettuce earlier in the week), Buddy Guy (with Quinn Sullivan) and Lil Xan (with Steve Cannon, Phem and Eliozie) on successive nights at 20 Monroe Live, Public Access and Dan Rickabus Band for a Clean Water Campaign benefit at The Pyramid Scheme, The Verve Pipe at Bell’s Brewery and Out of Favor Boys for a 15th anniversary show at Old Dog Tavern.
