The Bootstrap Boys made it a winter solstice to remember.
The vintage Grand Rapids country band’s Tuesday EP-release show for “New Beginnings” proved to be a hit with fans and band members alike.
“Another wonderful show,” wrote fan Drew Bolliger. Added Jeff Ingraham: “It was a fantastic show.”
With an opening set by up-and-coming singer Jon Bassin, The Bootstrap Boys rolled out their new material for the “Winter Solstice Party” at the intimate Listening Room in downtown Grand Rapids.

A track from the band’s new EP, “Broadway Blues,” also was featured during this week’s Local Spins on WYCE radio show, which also boasted fresh holiday tracks from the Christmas at Critter’s project (classic songs featuring Patty PerShayla and Chris Newberg, among others) and by Ypsilanti singer-songwriter Adam Plomaritas.
The show — which spotlights Michigan music at 11 a.m. Fridays on WYCE (88.1 FM) and online at wyce.org — also boasted the on-air debut of new music from West Michigan’s FlyLiteGemini and Saline native Katie Pederson, who recently relocated to Nashville. In addition, the show recapped highlights from regional releases over the past year, including tracks by Hollywood Makeout, Joshua Davis, May Erlewine & The Woody Goss Band, Michigander, Laura Rain & The Caesars, Michigan Rattlers, The Accidentals, Lee Heerspink and Billy Strings.
