Happy Father’s Day and Happy Summer Solstice!
Bands and music lovers certainly have reason to be happy these days as summer ushers in a flood of outdoor music events with the lifting of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The third week in June proved that as:
• James Reeser & The Backseat Drivers kicked off Rockford’s Rogue River Blues Series on Tuesday;
• Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys rocked a huge crowd of country fans at the inaugural Lowell Showboat Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts show on Thursday;

• Bluegrass whiz Mark Lavengood and his band heated up City Built Brewing’s second “Fright Night Live” show along the Grand River north of downtown Grand Rapids.
On Saturday, country stars were on tap, with:
• Granger Smith and Jason Cross (from Sadie Bass’ band) firing up the “Tailgates and Tunes” concert at Jackson’s Grande Golf Club;
• The Kari Lynch Band closing out Three Rivers’ Water Festival just ahead of that city’s fireworks finale.
