Michigan indie/electronic/emo/experimental band Secret Grief has been described as “polymorphic,” embracing many styles — which certainly could also describe the array of shows that ignited Grand Rapids audiences over the weekend.
Secret Grief’s Saturday appearance at The Pyramid Scheme also featured sets by Hexing, Low Light and Perren, the same night that up-and-coming Grand Rapids artist Ocean celebrated his 18th birthday with his rock band, The Universe, at a jam-packed Four Star Theatre on S. Division Ave. along with Snowbirds, When Words Fail and Chrome Baby.
The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with “Queerapalooza” at The Pyramid Scheme, a benefit for the Grand Rapids Trans Foundation and Grand Rapids Pride Center (presented by Calv N’ Friendz) that featured a drag show and musical performances by Blüejay, CALV, Deadbeatdad and Monica Parker — sparking what organizers called “unstoppable queer energy.”
