Winter’s returned to West Michigan, but no need to fret (unless you’re a guitarist). Hey, the snow’s slowed down so it’s time to warm up with live music aplenty in Grand Rapids tonight.
And nothing will heat things up faster than the blues of Motor City Josh and the Big 3.

One of the Cowpie Blues Festival’s most popular performers returns for a rock-the-house blues set at Billy’s Lounge tonight to kick off the West Michigan Blues Society’s Cabin Fever Blues Series (co-sponsored by Billy’s and WYCE-FM 88.1).
As singer and guitarist Josh Ford told me a few years ago prior to a Cowpie festival appearance, expect a “very high-energy, very fun, in your face, very entertaining show. People get the vibe.”
The 21-and-older show begins at 9:30 p.m.; admission is $10. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
(The Cabin Fever thing continues the next three Saturdays with Hadden Sayers, Nora Jean Bruso and the Chicago Rhythm & Blues Kings.)
And there are more Saturday night shows that might tickle your musical fancy:
JAM BANDS – This is a jam-band double-header of a CD-release party: Glean Infusion celebrates release of a new prog-rock/funk/fusion/jam band album, “Alive and Well,” along with Traverse City reggae/root/jam band Soul Patch and the Badenya Drumming Ensemble. Admission to the 21-and-older 9:30 p.m. show at Founders Brewing Co., 235 Grandville Ave. SW, is $5.
JAZZ – Top-notch West Michigan jazz musicians Randy Marsh and the Steve Talaga Trio play the Ottawa Tavern, 151 Ottawa Ave. NW, at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
