THE READER RESPONSES:
Chelsea Perry – Miss spending summers at these shows!! It’s just gotten too expensive!!
Timmy Rodriguez – Decemberists! I bought tickets to see them there like 7 years ago and couldn’t go. So I’m super stoked I can see them at a cool place.
Michael Packer – I’m going to be a naysayer and say nay. The ticket prices are too expensive, and the tickets for those of us in the lower income and retired bracket – unless they return my call, probably not. This what I get for presenting concerts all over the place when I was at WYCE and WGVU (I’ll probably attend some of the Tuesday evening clubs if I can fenagle a ride).
G. Kendall Kiel – Way too expensive. I used to get free tickets when I was a volunteer.
Mike Niemchick – Sorry haters, I’m into it. Decemberists top my list.
Mike Metchikoff – Norah Jones, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris & Mary Chapin Carpenter.
John Nowak – Hoping to see Old Crow Medicine Show, Trey, and a couple others. Willing to dish an extra $10-20 to see world class talent performing at a world class venue 10 minutes from my house.
Nicole LaRae – If someone gifted me tickets to 6/24, I’d be there! Otherwise: The lack of diversity in the lineup of performers is disappointing. If I was allowed to dance/stand at FMG, or even be in the running to obtain tickets, I’d go to more shows there. The crowd and presale sell outs truly ruined the experience for me.
Chuck Whiting – I might go to the Bela Fleck show, but only because Sierra Hull will be in his band.
Richard Krueger – Decided to see Boz Scaggs & Robert Cray; Buddy Guy & John Hiatt are also a possibility. Shouldn’t have been surprised at the bump-up in ticket prices – but I was.
Jack Clark – Norah Jones. I’ve seen many of the artists & price certainly going to limit the # of shows. But great place to see a show. Will probably add Iron & Wine & Dead South to my FMG plans this summer.
Shari Jackson – Even tho I love concerts, I no longer go. They are overpriced and I would prefer to spend my money on travel.
David Zeemering – Lake Street Dive is worth the increasing tix prices and the soccer mom social hour at every show.
Brian Haik – Not attending this year. Not excited about the lineup…and the ones I do want to see I wouldn’t pay $100 for. I would hand over $100 for David Byrne because those were the best shows FMG ever had.
Isaac Powrie – Trey and Umphrey’s hopefully
Kat Hovingh – Elvis Costello!
Lee Chase – Trombone Shorty’s lineup is intriguing. I’ve seen most of the others that interest me and yeah the ticket prices are high. Going to a FMG show is like attending a CRC picnic. Plus wine.
Chad Michael Wedeven – Among what’s announced, the Decemberists. Waiting for the Tuesday lineup.
Caroline Barlow – If I lived closer and didn’t have other conflicts, I’d go to a lot of these. Lyle Lovett (he’s a must-see live!) Norah Jones, Andrew Bird, Lake Street Dive, The Decemberists, Emmylou w/ Mary Chapin. You have to raise ticket prices to get these acts in a small-ish venue, so I get it. I’m curious to see what shows do well! Always a mystery lol
Scott Garrison – Michael Franti and Spearhead, Elvis Costello and the Impostors, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Amos Lee, and Lake Street Dive (in that order).
Jennifer WolfSchwallie – The only show I can justify the inflated price & horrible crowd for is Corinne Bailey Rae/War & Treaty. But who knows if it will even make it past presale? I’m driving to Detroit to see Norah Jones for half the price & with actual music fans instead of FMG.
Ben Taylor – Trey. Because it’s Trey.
Matt James Young – Sign me up for John Hiatt and Lake Street Dive
Stephen Aldrich – Pretty much everything has been there before, would appreciate some new acts coming as opposed to this “greatest hits” line-up.
Dave Adams – Boz Scaggs with Robert Cray sounds interesting.
Sheila Whittaker – Elvis Costello and Goo Goo Dolls. Whole series is fabulous this year.
Daniel W Dawe – Returning resident of W. Michigan who has yet to catch a show at FMG. If I do pull the plug, Trombone Shorty is bringing a Dance Party. Pricey yes, but not ready to die yet.
