Midwest House will host performance by bands and solo artists from across the region March 8-10 at Austin’s Half Step venue during South by Southwest 2024.
So, it’s currently inviting alternative, electronic, hip hop and rap, R&B and soul, rock and singer-songwriter acts to apply for paid performance slots via Opnr online here.
The deadline for applying is Jan. 13.
Only artists from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Wisconsin are eligible. Opnr noted that applicants “can include a short pitch message … to explain why (they’re) the best candidate for this opportunity.”
Midwest House — formerly known as Michigan House — first established a presence at SXSW in 2015 and has hosted regular performances, panel discussions and more ever since.
Described as “an experiential embassy of the Midwest to SXSW,” Midwest House aims to be a “global showcase of the incredible talent and innovative thinking that the Midwest has to offer, as well as a networking tool.”
Opnr, meanwhile, helps connect musicians with local performance opportunities and local concert organizers with a musician’s fan base.
