Soulful New Orleans-based rocker Nikki Hill, East Los Angeles Chicano band Las Cafeteras and Michigan songbird May Erlewine will headline Buttermilk Jamboree 2019 at Circle Pines Center in Delton.
Award-winning singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman, indie-folk singer Samantha Crain and regional stars such as Last Gasp Collective, Red Tail Ring, Seth Bernard & Jordan Hamilton, Billy Davis and The Appleseed Collective will also pump up the ninth edition of the music festival taking place June 14-16.
“Our music committee’s goal for Buttermilk is to present a diversified lineup of the best musicians from Michigan and beyond in keeping with Circle Pines Center’s mission statement of ‘teaching peace, social justice, and environmental stewardship through cooperation in work, education, and recreation,’ ” said Ken Wylupski, who organizes festival bookings.
“Michigan has a vast pool of amazing artists to draw from. We strive to present those bands familiar with our attendees along with those not readily known to broaden their musical acumen and come away with a new favorite.”
That means showcasing an eclectic range of artists, from the dance-sparking Kalamazoo band Funktion and Ypsilanti’s Chirp to Americana favorites Jukejoint Handmedowns and Roosevelt Diggs to boundary-pushing acts such as Earth Radio and Brotha James.
Circle Pines Center in Delton will once again host the family-friendly, three-day event, which offers camping, workshops, food and goods vendors, a children’s area, and craft beer and wine tent.
Early-bird tickets are now on sale ($88 adults, $25 children), with a variety of other options available. Purchase tickets and get details about options online here.
Performances take place on several stages, including the Orchard, Sugar Bush and Beer Tent stages.
