Welcome to the revamped Local Spins website, with a brighter, bolder way to offer the music news you want — with more to come in 2014.
As daunting as it might seem at times, change is good.
Support our coverage of
West Michigan's music scene
Singer Sam Cooke recognized it nearly a half-century ago with “A Change is Gonna Come,” not long after hearing Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.” David Bowie embraced “Changes,” Sheryl Crow figured “A Change Would Do You Good” and Gary Clark acknowledged that “Things Are Changin’.”
Oh, and Vampire Weekend crooned that “Blake’s Got a New Face.”
Well, after nearly two years of covering the vibrant West Michigan music scene, Local Spins has a “new face,” too. Localspins.com is changing from a blog format to a website. We will continue to focus on what our readers have long embraced: West Michigan music, musicians and concert venues, with a focus on local and regional bands, including rock, folk, jazz, blues, country, hip-hop, EDM and everything in between – from The Bangups to Blue Molly to Punksuhate.
Our local focus and exceptional content has allowed us to more than double our readership over the past year, making LocalSpins.com the fastest growing music website in the region. Our readers love our features on local artists, album and concert reviews, photo galleries, concert listings, guest musician columns and music news updates.
We’re confident that revamping the look of Local Spins will allow readers to find and more easily access information and listings in user-friendly fashion, rather than constantly scrolling to find the latest blog posts, stories and photos – with tabs for features such as Local Spins Artist Spotlights, the weekly Big List Concert Guide and Weekend Photo Galleries at the top of the home page.
Our advertisers will enjoy more options and more exposure than ever before. Please support our advertisers! They ensure you will continue to receive in-depth and unique music coverage from LocalSpins.com.
We want to hear from you about these changes and any improvements you’d like to see to make you feel like you’re part of the Local Spins family. Have some thoughts, suggestions or story ideas? Please send an email to John Sinkevics, publisher, at jsinkevics@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
The process of upgrading LocalSpins.com will continue, with new features we’re really excited about unleashing in 2014, so stay tuned. Because ultimately, this website is about shining a brighter spotlight on the vibrant, growing West Michigan music scene and its devoted fans.
