West Michigan's music scene
The temperatures aren’t the only things soaring these days across Michigan.
Live music of every ilk continues to heat up and sizzle as evidenced by hundreds of concerts taking place at venues, parks, beaches and amphitheaters — literally a musically heat wave of epic proportions for the summer of 2025, which officially kicked off Friday.
Local Spins publishes and regularly updates two separate concert guides to help music lovers plan their season of live music: “Summer Concerts at Michigan Venues” (featuring 60 different concert series) and “Free Outdoor Community Concerts” (more than 140 separate series which take place almost every night of the week in more than 100 cities and towns across the state).
Today, we add to that roster with concerts that take place from Grand Rapids, Douglas, Fennville, Otsego, St. Joseph and Greenville to Pentwater, Kaleva, Traverse City and Indian River. The concerts featuring everything from national touring acts to regional stars.
The new listings also include Grand Rapids Symphony’s recently announced return of its Picnic Pops series after several years — concerts which will now be held at Walker’s Millennium Meadows in July. (The popular concerts previously were staged at Cannonsburg Ski Area.)
Have a concert series you’d like to add to the list? Email details to our hardworking listings staffer Julie Honderd at juliel100@protonmail.com.
