A fair number of those travelers count themselves as music lovers reveling in Detroit’s mammoth electronic music festival Movement (get the Local Spins preview) or the cozy Buses by the Beach Bus Benefit in Trufant (check out the lineup and details here).
Regardless of the destination, all of them deserve a soundtrack for these road trips.
And this week’s Local Spins’ Michigan Music Showcase provides just that, resonating with a local and regional flavor, not to mention the on-air debut of tracks by several artists from every corner of the Mitten State.
The Memorial Day weekend edition of the radio show features music by Zach Peterson (Detroit), Chirp (Southeast Michigan), Jill Jack (Ferndale), Christine Mattson (Muskegon), Todd Renton (Roscommon), The Lower Leisure Class (Kalamazoo), Silverstiles (Grand Rapids), Red Thyme (Grand Rapids), Ajax Stacks & Steven Malcolm (Grand Rapids), Greet Death (Flint), Urphme (Grand Rapids), The Fields (Lansing/Bay City), Zudocks (Grand Rapids) and The Reverend Jesse Ray (Grand Rapids), who plays the Local Spinsation Ale release party at Rockford Brewing on May 29 with a new studio album coming out at the end of June.
