As summer approaches, Saugatuck Brewing Co.’s newly renovated location basks in the middle of downtown Kalamazoo’s active summer nightlife, offering live music every Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Not only that, but the Wednesday night outdoor Beats on Bates concert series takes place just outside the back entrance to SBC’s patio area.
“We are also looking forward to hosting private events in the future for corporate events and holiday gatherings,” said Stephanie Ingram, general manager for SBC’s downtown Kalamazoo location at 200 E. Michigan Ave.
It’s SBC’s third West Michigan location, joining its flagship brewery in Douglas and its Creston taproom in Grand Rapids, making it the second largest brewery in Michigan “still owned by people in Michigan,” Ingram said.
The revamped Kalamazoo brewpub — after initially opening on Kalamazoo’s main drag in April 2023 — has a total capacity of 195, with seating arrangements designed to comfortably accommodate up to 115 people.
Aiming to book a wide variety of music performers, upcoming shows include Shelby Lentz on May 16, the JunkDrawer duo on May 23, the Emma Rey duo on May 30 and singer-songwriter Matthew Borr on June 6. Find events via SBC’s Facebook page.
SBC also has long supported and partnered with Kalamazoo’s The Kunty Kittens for drag shows and drag brunch, and will continue these events in 2024. The next “Pride Drag Brunch Bingo” takes place June 16.
The revamped space also features games such as Skeeball, pinball, a pool table, Retro Racoons, Golden Tee and more, along with a menu that features handheld sandwiches and salads, along with SBC brews.
“We have had a year now to get acclimated to our new location in the heart of downtown, and we are listening to our guests’ feedback,” Ingram said.
