After years of dynamic performances by the rock/soul/blues/folk band Hannah Rose & The GravesTones – propelled, in part, by guitarist Justin Wierenga and bassist Justin Avdek – the two musicians are playing their final show with Graves tonight (Wednesday) at SpeakEZ Lounge.
Both are pursuing various other musical projects, with Wierenga not only hammering away on his first solo album but also working with Avdek on the new jazz/rock fusion band The Underground Circus.
For her part, Graves is writing new material and assembling a new band that will be ready to roll in time for next year’s festival season. And of course, Avdek and Wierenga aren’t ruling out some gigs with Graves in the future.
All three conceded it’s been a happy musical adventure and the parting is amicable, with the full band vowing to unleash a rollicking evening of musical fun on what’s considered the busiest bar night of the year.
They previewed the farewell show by performing an acoustic rendition of a couple of songs for this week’s edition of Local Spins Live on News Talk 1340 AM (WJRW). Check out the video of their performance of “Stay With Me” below.
